Would you like to use and improve your English? We chat about everyday life (in Coffee, Cake and Conversation). We read poems out loud and discuss the topics (in Poetry for Pleasure). We read Shakespeare´s plays and talk about the themes, still so relevant today (in the Shakespeare course). Speaking in English is our aim!
Here is a little gem of wisdom from Petruchio in "The Taming of the Shrew" (IV iii 166-168):
For ´tis the mind that makes the body rich,

After a lovely year of English conversation, discussion and discovery, it is time for the summer break. We have talked about so many topics, read beautiful poems, discovered new cultures and read Romeo and Juliet. Thank you to all of our participants for joining in so enthusiastically.

Planning a trip abroad this summer? Is it time to polish up your English? Do you enjoy speaking a foreign language? Then why not come along to our conversation course and practise using English. The lessons are in small groups. We talk about everyday topics, such as food, travel, films and hobbies. All levels are welcome!

We gaan vol enthousiasme van start met ons nieuwe programma voor dit seizoen. We bieden:
Coffee, Cake and Conversation: Iedere keer een nieuw onderwerp onder het genot van een lekker kopje koffie/thee!
Countries and Cultures: Iedere les bezoeken we een ander land en praten over alles wat dat land te bieden heeft.
Shakespeare: Romeo and Juliet!!
Poetry for Pleasure: Poems inspired by the four classical elements of earth, fire, air and water.

What a great year! We have enjoyed many fun and stimulating conversations in English together! We have read and discussed poems from all over the world in our Circle of Life theme. We have finished reading and exploring Shakespeare´s Hamlet together and already everyone is asking what we will choose next!
First, it is time for a summer break. We thank all our participants for their enthusiastic input. We look forward to new courses in English together in September. Have a great summer!

English language and literature courses will continue from January 17th as a result of the government easing the restrictions.
As before, please wear a facemask until you are sitting down, and use the hand gel provided.

All English language courses are on hold until the government makes new announcements at the next press conference on January 14th. We hope that we will be able to continue from Monday January 17th but that remains to be seen. All participants will be contacted personally as and when. In the meantime, stay positive and stay safe!

Vanaf maandag 6 september gaan alle cursussen weer van start. We hebben er enorm veel zin in. Fijn dat we weer om de tafel mogen zitten, wel met 1,5 meter afstand natuurlijk. Wil je ook je Engels weer activeren? Schrijf je dan nu in!

This year of restrictions has required adaptability and flexibility, but the lasting impression is the real pleasure we have had in keeping the courses going and seeing you all. Helaas was het van korte duur dat we samen konden komen. Door de nieuwe coronamaatregelen hebben we een lange kerstvakantie. In januari gaan we weer beginnen en hopelijk kunnen we elkaar dan weer zien!
We wensen iedereen een mooie kerst toe in goede gezondheid!

Door de recente maatregelen i.v.m. corona verzorgen we onze cursussen vanaf 4 november weer online. We hopen natuurlijk dat we snel de draad weer kunnen oppakken en elkaar kunnen ontmoeten, maar dat is natuurlijk geheel afhankelijk van verder ontwikkelingen m.b.t. het virus en de richtlijnen van de regering.

There is just one more time for The Merchant of Venice with the traditional quiz and review. Then we will take a break for the summer. So the big question is....what are we going to read together from September? A history? A tragedy? A comedy? Watch this space! All will soon be revealed.

Ondanks de Corono-crisis gaan we gezellig door met de cursussen, via de telefoon of door videobellen, ieder vanuit zijn/haar eigen huiskamer. We verheugen ons erop elkaar snel weer in alle gezondheid te kunnen zien!

Vanwegen de coronamaatregelen kunnen we voor de cursussen vanzelfsprekend niet meer gezellig bij elkaar komen. Gelukkig kunnen de lessen wel doorgang vinden per telefoon en per videochat. We vinden het heel fijn met elkaar in contact te blijven.
Voor vertaalwerk zijn we uiteraard gewoon bereikbaar.
